Use Action Verbs To Sell

Whether you are writing ad content or landing page material, you should fill it with action verbs. Why? Because action verbs do the selling.
In every sentence you write, every word has a job to do. It’s the verb’s job to sell. If the verb is falling down on the job then it puts burden on your nouns, adjectives, and other parts of speech to do the hard work – work they are not trained to do. Let your most qualified salesman – the verb – do the hard work.
I’ve seen too much ad copy written with passive verbs. The following examples of weak passive verbs will show you how not to write ad copy or landing page content:
- You’ll be making more money
- The widget is red
- The girls will date you
Now let’s rewrite them using strong action verbs:
- Make untold riches!
- Red widgets stand out in a crowd
- You’ll attract more gorgeous ladies in one day
See how those action verbs are stronger than their weaker, passive counterparts. Fill your pay per click ad content – landing page copy as well as ad content – with strong action verbs and watch your clicks and conversions increase.
