Should You Advertise With Google?

Many PPC advertisers make the mistake of thinking that Google AdWords is the only gig in town. Yes, it is the biggest PPC provider in the universe, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s where you should start your PPC advertising campaign.

If your website is indexed and ranking highly at Yahoo! and MSN Live, but not at Google, then you may get more mileage for your PPC dollar at Yahoo! Search Marketing or MSN adCenter. People tend to click on ads more often when there is an associated organic search listing. Why not capitalize on the space where you have a free search listing?

That’s not to say you should rule Google out entirely. The bottom line is you need to know your audience and if your conversions are coming from traffic you get from Yahoo! or MSN then you should consider advertising through those search engines first and adding Google later on.
