A few days ago I read that Google will be sponsoring some AdWords and Analytics seminars. This is a great idea. Where will the seminars be held?
- Denver
- San Francisco Bay
- San Diego
- Raleigh
- Dallas
Forgive me for saying it, but if you’re only going to do five seminars, why do two of them on the West Coast? San Diego and San Francisco are rougly 500 miles apart. Personally, I think Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada would have been a better choice. Then you could get people to fly in from Washington, Oregon, California, and most of the other Western states. It would have been more centrally located in that region of the country. In that case, you could have likely nixed Denver as well and added Chicago to the play list.
Dallas and Raleigh seem like good bets, but what about New York? There is no Northeastern representation and Raleigh seems a bit far for people in that section of the country. New York or Philadelphia would have been good locations to appeal to the Northeasterners (and there are a lot of Northeasterners).
Surely, it isn’t a financial decision. Google can afford the travel expenses. It seems these locations were selected for the convenience of the seminar leaders.
I do think it’s a great seminar offering and Google seems poised to offer the seminar in other cities around the country. That’s a good thing. They do offer a form for anyone who wants to request a seminar in their area. And it does seem that there was a seminar held in Las Vegas – on February 25. That means the seminar representation was very heavily concentrated in the Western States. Bummer.
