To maximize your ROI while using Google Adwords, you have to take the time to optimize your adwords campaign. I know a lot of people who just sort of take a shot in the dark when it comes to adwords. They pick the keywords either using the google keywords tool or wordtracker , then just bid pretty much what they think will get them some clicks.
If you’re lucky, the above method won’t put you into debt for the rest of your life. The google blog has some tips on how to optimize your google adwords campaign. Today was targeted toward keywords.
AdWords Optimization Tips: Brainstorming new keyword ideas
We recently received an email from an Inside AdWords reader, asking how to keep up with the latest trends in her ever-evolving industry of cosmetic dentistry. She wanted to make sure that her keywords were capturing all of the new, different ways potential customers are searching for her business. Previously, we covered how to first develop your core keywords and then create a list of modifier keywords. Today, we will discuss some other ways you can continually brainstorm new keyword ideas.
Some of the things they discuss are;
Google Trends, which I find useful up to a point, but unless the search term you put into google trend has a ton of searches, it won’t produce results. So if you are targeting long-tail key phrases and niche markets, Google Trends may not work for you.
Search Query Reports which are very useful in finding out what searches displayed your ad and got actual click-thrus on your ppc ad.
They also discuss forums, wikipedia, and even using google search to help you choose keywords.
