Simultaneus PPC Campaigns: Should You, Could You, Would You?

Everyone seems to focus on Google AdWords when they first take an interest in pay per click advertising, but understand that Google isn’t the only option you have. We’ve written about alternative PPC providers before. But is it a matter of either/or?

I believe Google AdWords is a great place for pay per click advertisers at any level. But you’ll pay more for clicks there than you will anywhere else. You will also likely get more traffic (assuming you do it right). And the small PPC companies are ready when you are.

It isn’t so much that you should choose Google AdWords OR another company. Keep in mind that there are still people online who use Yahoo! and MSN Live to search for information. Some of those people never use Google. Some of them use all the search engines so that they can compare results. In fact, many SEOs and veteran Internet marketers are notorious for this.

When it comes to pay per click advertising, you should go where your audience is. Are you targeting small business owners that are likely to be on Yahoo!? Then you should probably run a PPC campaign through Yahoo! Search Marketing. But don’t abandon Google AdWords because you will still find a segment of your small business market at Google. Once you learn where your audience is, it’s just a matter of using that pay per click company as leverage to deliver targeted traffic to your website. And most of the time you’ll find that your target audience can be found in more than one place.
