Use PPC To Develop Your Keyword List

One powerful optimization savvy webmasters use to develop their websites is to use PPC to determine their most important keywords. By running PPC ad campaigns they can determine which keywords have the highest click through rates. When you narrow down your click through rates and find those keywords that attract attention, you can use those same keywords to build your content and develop it more fully.

It’s a real simple action plan:

  • Open a PPC account at Google, Yahoo! or MSN
  • Start with broad keywords within a niche
  • Use your keyword tools to find related keywords and group them
  • Write an ad to target one of your ad groups
  • Repeat for other ad groups
  • Give yourself a reasonable period of time to see which keywords have the best CTR
  • Take your keywords with the highest CTR and build a web page optimized around them

This is a simplified version of the plan, but it’s basically the way to do it. Narrow down your keywords to the most profitable and capitalize on them.
