Metrics is one of the most necessary aspects to running a successful pay per click campaign, but most people online do not fully understand the importance or the broad use of information available through metrics. With metrics you can tell a lot about your campaigns and their success rates. And it’s more than just measuring traffic.
A good metrics package not only can tell you what your daily visitor count is, but also how many unique visitors you get each day and the source of traffic that those visitors come to your site from. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Some other things you can measure with a good metrics package include:
- Length of time an average visitor spends on your site and on your landing page
- Exit holes through which your visitors leave
- Click-through rate
- Percentage of clicks that result in conversion
- Bounce rate
Metrics are not just a one-size-fits-all package either. You can define what’s important to you and set your own goals. If the gathering of leads is important to you then you can measure how successful you are at measuring leads. Anything that is of value to you should be measurable and the more successful you are at measuring what is valuable then the more successful you’ll be in attaining it. If you haven’t invested in a metrics package yet then I highly recommend that you do so.
