What Does ‘Budget Pause’ Mean?

Microsoft adCenter has a feature called “Budget Pause.” This is Microsoft adCenter’s way of letting you know that you’ve reached your self-determined budget limit.
When you sign up for and start your Microsoft adCenter campaign, you will be asked what are your daily and monthly budget. Once you’ve set your budget, if you reach it before the end of the daily or monthly period then Microsoft adCenter will pause your ads.
For instance, if you set your monthly budget at $1,000 and you spend $1,000 by the 21st of the month then on the 22nd of the month your ads will stop running - if you have checked the “spend until depleted” option on your account. You have no more money to spend for the month so this is your way of controlling your budget. It means you do not have to log in to pause your account manually and run the risk of going over budget before you do so.
Another way to have your account automatically paused when you hit your budget limit is to set a daily limit and Microsoft adCenter will pause your account when you hit the daily limit. So if your daily limit is set at $75 and you hit that at 3 p.m. then all of your ads will stop running for the day. They will start again on the next day and run until you reach your daily budget or continue on until the next day.
Microsoft adCenter’s “Budget Pause” feature is akin to Google’s automatic pause feature for the same budgetary reasons. It gives you greater control over your ad spend.
